Great job to everyone that showed up Saturday for the "Weekend Warrior" workout! Just to give everyone a taste of the action, Campers were paired and and compete against the clock with the following:

3 rounds of: (per team)

40 Pull ups

50 Push ups

60 Box Jumps

70 Double Unders

400m run

Great job tonight everyone!!! It looked like you all are getting the hang of using your hips and shoulders as the main mode of force behind the clean. Here is a video that I found of the big guys going at it during an Olympic Clean and Jerk event. I would like you to notice how slow the bar is lifted until it gets to the "hang" position and then all of the force is going straight up. Remember, we will never perfect big moves like this but only get better with practice. Have a great rest of the day, see you soon!

By the way, to convert kg. to lbs. just multiply kilograms by 2.2.

Last week I had the opportunity to visit Lake Park Elementary and talk with students in Mrs. Moore-Williams' class. We talked about fitness in general and what it meant to them. Don't tell the principal but we had a lot of fun too! Thank you for inviting me out to Lake Park and I hope to see everyone soon!

Meet Jay! Jay is an avid Camper and an "all or nothing" kind of guy. Monday morning Jay and I were looking for a PR on the Deadlift and to no surprise to me, we got one! Jay started out with a max Deadlift of 225lbs. and quickly found himself at 385lbs. After his 4th set of 5 I asked Jay what he would like to finish on. With as much sparkle in the eye as one can have at 6:30am complimented by a confident grin he replied, "405"! We proceeded to put on that 8th bumper and to both our disgust he bonked… "Well Jay, looks like you're at 385!" I said… A new PR by the way… Now, fast forward to 6:30pm the next day. I am in mid-session training a client and Jay bust in wearing his work attire, civilian clothes I like to call them. "I have been thinking about it all day, I got to get 405!" he says to me… After a couple warm up sets Jay loads up the bar with the same 8 bumpers as the day before. I had just enough time to snap this pic before the bar was at his hip and the lift was good!
